Junglies in Nordic Search & Rescue

A Sea King from Commando Helicopter Force on exercise in Norway rescued a stranded fisherman.

The helicopter crew came to the rescue after local authorities sought assistance from the UK forces undertaking winter training at Bardufoss, as part of Exercise CLOCKWORK.

A fishing boat with a single occupant had run aground on a reef.  The Sea King was sent to assist and was able to rescue the fisherman safely.

The aircrew was made up of Corporal Mark Haffenden, Lieutenant Commander Neil Davidson and Colour Sergeant Gladys Knight.

Major David West RM of the Commando Helicopter Force said: “We’re not involved in Search and Rescue on a daily basis, but we always try to help if we can, especially if there’s a danger that lives will be lost.”
